GAIL CHANDLER (b. 1955)
Contemporary Realism | Story-Driven Still Life Painting
ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Gail Chandler (b. 1955) is a self-taught Contemporary Realism painter whose work transforms familiar objects into layered visual narratives. Since launching her professional art career in 2003, Chandler has become known for paintings that trigger memory, humor, nostalgia, and the mischievous delight found in everyday life.
In Chandler’s oils, a stack of books may tell the story of growth from childhood to graduation, while a collection of cookbooks can recall family rituals, favorite meals, and beloved places. Board games, newspapers, culinary icons, and literary treasures become more than still-life subjects—they become portraits of shared experience.
With a refined eye for light, balance, and detail, Chandler pushes the boundaries of Contemporary Realism while keeping her work warm, witty, and deeply human. Her paintings invite viewers to pause, smile, and discover their own stories within the composition.
Chandler’s work is held in private collections across the United States and is proudly featured at Gallery 1870.
