Monte Michael Moore: A Pop Art Legend
Monte Michael Moore has been a professional illustrator for nearly 30 years, working across a range of industries including book covers, video games, movie posters, card games, and comic books. His work has been featured by top-tier companies like DC Comics, Marvel Entertainment, Lucasfilm Ltd., Wizards of the Coast, Harley-Davidson, and more. Monte’s artistic achievements include cover art for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #100 and Transformers vs. The Terminator #1, along with winning the People’s Choice Award at the 2019 Western Art Rodeo Association World Finals. He is also a two-time winner of the World Fantasy Art Show for Best Black and White work.
A graduate of Colorado State University with a BFA in 1993, Monte has spent decades honing his craft through study with Master Teacher Frank Covino and attending art workshops across the U.S. His versatility as an artist is evident in his use of a wide range of mediums, including acrylics, pencils, oils, fine art bronze, and mixed media. Monte has also studied with Wildlife Art Masters such as John Seerey-Lester and Carl Brenders, adding depth to his diverse portfolio.
In the fine art world, Monte’s accomplishments include winning People’s Choice Awards in both 2018 and 2019 and placing 4th Overall in the Dry Media category at the Western Art Rodeo Association World Finals. Since 2017, he has been juried into the prestigious Arizona Fine Art Expo in Scottsdale, where his work has been selected as cover art for three consecutive years.
Growing up on a cattle ranch in the mountains of Idaho, Monte’s upbringing in a family with over 100 years of ranching heritage has heavily influenced his Western art. His deep connection to the Western lifestyle is evident in his paintings, which draw from his experiences with horses, cattle, and ranch work. At the same time, Monte continues to make a significant impact in the pop-culture art world, having contributed to franchises like Star Wars, DC Comics, Marvel, and Disney.
