Watercolor Master Eric Christensen
Eric Christensen Biography
Master watercolorist Eric Christensen is known for his hyper-realistic wine still life paintings. Christensen has painted many of the Napa Valley wines and is a celebrated Wine Country Artist. He is Self-taught, and invented a watercolor technique that allows him to create images of vibrant color that go beyond the look and depth of a high quality photograph. Christensen is the only known artist capable of hyper-realism through the use of standard watercolor. Christensen loves to capture the romance of the wine country which he points out "is so much more than the wine".
By pushing watercolor paint to its absolute limits, Christensen has invented a new way to paint with this traditional medium. Using non-standard watercolor paper and employing a dry brush technique, Eric starts out with thin washes then builds meticulously to over 30 subsequent layers of paint. Eric's technique allows him to achieve much stronger colors and shadows than can be found with traditional watercolors.
Christensen achieves his lifelike hyper-realistic images through his genius for understanding the technical aspects of his subjects and his dedication to capturing an image as it truly exists. He possesses the stunning ability to paint the subtleties of light traveling through a flower petal or its reflection off a wine glass.
The King of Philosophical Symbolism returns to Gallery 1870
October 15th, 16th & 17th
12:00 - 5:00 PM
Pete Tillack's work is heavily influenced from his emotions and experiences from traveling the world and is infused with the feelings of serenity through ones environment. Tillack's technical analysis of contrast and his regular use of monotone colors, are what is used to dramatize the silhouettes and reflections shaped by a sunrise or sunset. This gives his wonderful creations a depth that draw the viewer into each piece, and lures them into an experience, transcending them to a peaceful disposition - "their personal journey." Tillack's subject matter focuses on the journey of our lives, and the environment that constantly affects our daily decisions and directions as our choices and judgements are swayed by our surroundings and our experiences.

The Show Must Go On!
Renowned artist David Miller traveled all the way from Florida after having evacuated from hurricane Irma in time to visit the evacuation zones of California's famous wine country. We had an exciting three day show planned that was reduced to one. Thank you to the Miller family - it is always nice to catch up.
