Air Balloon Miniature Original by Karen Neely – M2253
Original Acrylic | 2" × 2" | Framed 3" × 3" with Burl Hanger
This vibrant miniature by Karen Neely captures the charm of a colorful hot air balloon drifting over a softly rendered landscape. Rich stripes of red, yellow, green, and orange bring the balloon to life, standing out beautifully against the muted hills and sky behind it. The composition has a sense of quiet movement and adventure, balanced by the calm, earthy tones of the countryside below.
The painting is presented in a warm burl wood frame, whose natural grain enhances the depth and richness of the piece. As shown in your images, this miniature is designed with a ribbon hanger—perfectly sized to hang from the neck of a wine bottle, making it a distinctive and thoughtful gift.

About the Artist – Karen Neely
Karen Neely is a Northern California artist born in Monterey.
She has been painting since her youth, studying privately under her mother, a professional artist, as well as other accomplished artists through her family’s involvement in galleries and art shows. She continued her formal education at Chico State, San Francisco State, and the Art Academy of San Francisco.
Karen received her first award at age 16—the Bank of America–sponsored Junior Achievement Award—which helped support her early development as an artist.
Her work is now featured in galleries throughout California. Drawing inspiration from her time in Hawaii, Monterey, Lake Tahoe, Southern California, and Napa Valley, Karen often paints en plein air—capturing landscapes, wildlife, and nature-inspired subjects.
She is especially known for her miniature acrylic originals, each thoughtfully finished and framed. Many of her smallest works are intentionally designed as wine bottle hangers, making them highly collectible and perfect for gifting.
