About the Artist – Ashot

Born in Yerevan, Armenia, Ashot demonstrated extraordinary artistic talent from an early age, completing his first commissioned painting at just fifteen years old. Under the mentorship of celebrated painter and sculptor Yervand Cotchard, whose artistic circle included Pablo Picasso and Fernand Léger, Ashot developed the classical techniques and artistic philosophy that continue to define his work today.

After immigrating to the United States in 1990, Ashot established himself as one of the foremost living painters working in the Old World tradition. His career flourished throughout Northern California and Los Angeles, earning international recognition for his landscapes, portraits, and timeless classical compositions.

In 2005, Buckingham Palace acquired five of Ashot's paintings. The following year, as Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her 80th birthday, the Royal Collection acquired an additional thirteen works, including portraits of Her Majesty and HRH Prince Philip. Today, Ashot's paintings reside in distinguished public and private collections around the world, including the British Royal Family, the Ronald Reagan Presidential Museum, former U.S. Secretary of State George Shultz, Mikhail Gorbachev, Prince Michael of Kent, and numerous museums, diplomats, scholars, and prominent collectors.
