Hummingbird Miniature Original by Karen Neely – M2260

Original Acrylic | 2" × 2" | Custom Italian Molding (3" × 3" Framed)

Lively and full of motion, this hummingbird miniature original by Northern California artist Karen Neely captures a fleeting moment as the bird hovers delicately near a blooming flower. The soft green background enhances the vibrant iridescent tones of the hummingbird’s feathers—subtle blues, greens, and warm accents—bringing a sense of light and energy to the composition.

Neely’s expressive brushwork creates depth and movement within this intimate scale, with the angled wings and forward posture conveying the graceful motion of the bird in flight. The small floral detail adds a touch of warmth and balance, grounding the composition while keeping the focus on the hummingbird.

Expertly presented in custom Italian molding, the finished piece measures 3x3 inches and is ready to display. This one-of-a-kind original is perfect for collectors of miniature fine art, bird lovers, or anyone drawn to the delicate beauty and symbolism of hummingbirds.

About the Artist – Karen Neely

Karen Neely is a Northern California artist born in Monterey.

She has been painting since her youth, studying privately under her mother (a professional artist) as well as other renowned artists through her parents’ many galleries and art shows. She later continued her studies at Chico State, San Francisco State, and the Art Academy in San Francisco.

Her first award came at the age of 16, when she received the Bank of America–sponsored Junior Achievement Award, which helped fund her formal art education.

Today, Karen’s work is featured in several fine art galleries throughout California. Her time living in Hawaii, Monterey, Lake Tahoe, Southern California, and near Northern California’s wine country inspires her creations. She can often be found painting outdoors—by the vineyards, along the coast, or lakeside.

While Karen works in mixed media on canvases up to 6x6 feet, she is especially known for her miniature acrylic originals, set in custom frames such as hand-rubbed maple and imported Italian mouldings.
