"When Autumn comes rushing in, be on alert that the holidays are just around the corner. Whisper a wistful good-bye to outdoor summer evenings as the comfy blanket throws emerge to languish on the sofa by a crackling fire. Traditions abound in the spirit of holiday celebrations, but the rare few are passed down from generation to generation. Like a fine Cabernet with a long and well-recognized pedigree, relish this fleeting moment with some winter nuts and a glass of "Red Legacy." -- Eric Christensen Fine Art

Featured wine: Robert Mondavi Cabernet Reserve.  In 2016, the Robert Mondavi Winery celebrated their 50th anniversary.

About the Artist – Eric Christensen

Eric Christensen began painting professionally in 1992 and quickly earned recognition as one of the most celebrated Wine Country artists. Entirely self-taught, he developed a groundbreaking watercolor technique that produces images so vivid and detailed they are often mistaken for oil paintings or photographs. Christensen is the only known artist to achieve true hyperrealism using standard watercolor.

Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, Eric’s childhood interests included painting, botany, classical music, and gourmet cooking. These passions blended naturally into the lifelike still lifes and wine-country scenes that have made him world-renowned. After opening a successful gallery in Yountville, California in the heart of Napa Valley, Christensen ultimately chose to devote himself full-time to painting. His work has been featured in national magazines, newspapers, and on television, including Wine Country Living.

Eric’s “wine art” transcends the bottle itself to capture the romance of the Napa lifestyle — often incorporating fresh produce, flowers, and gourmet pairings into his compositions. His meticulous dry-brush technique requires over 30 layers of paint, allowing him to create luminous colors, rich shadows, and an extraordinary sense of realism.

Collectors of Christensen’s art often own multiple works, cherishing his rare ability to celebrate fine wine, food, and the beauty of natural materials in a single hyper-realistic image. His paintings are not only admired for their technical brilliance but also for their ability to transport viewers into the lifestyle of wine country.
