A dapper French Bulldog attempts to maintain some sense of decorum, a Dachshund takes his Cabernet tasting very seriously, and a mischievous Jack Russell turns the winery fountain into his personal playground.

Rover Mondoggy Winery

Opposites in nearly every way, adopted brothers Louis, Dashiell, and Jack had agreed to spend the afternoon at Napa Valley’s prestigious Rover Mondoggy Winery. Louis—Louie to his brothers—had envisioned an afternoon of leisure, sophistication, and thoughtfully paired wines. He had even worn his best argyle bow tie for the occasion. Dashiell, or Dash, was equally enthusiastic, although for entirely different reasons. Having recently appointed himself something of a sommelier, Dash intended to put his remarkably discerning nose to work on the winery’s finest Cabernet. After all, he had privately concluded that, with a little practice, he could probably make a better wine than Mondoggy himself.

Jack had no such aspirations. Wine tasting sounded terribly dull, and behaving himself sounded worse. While Dash contemplated the complexities of the Cabernet and Louis attempted to enjoy one civilized moment, Jack set about discovering exactly how much trouble one Jack Russell could create in a single afternoon. Louis caught the unmistakable look in his brother’s eye and raised a paw in warning. Jack. Don’t even think about it.

Too late. Jack launched himself straight into the winery fountain, sending water flying in every direction while proudly retrieving a cork. Louis could only stare in exasperation as his carefully planned afternoon of sophistication dissolved around him. Dash, meanwhile, never opened his eyes. He simply lifted his nose, took another thoughtful sniff of Cabernet, and continued his evaluation. Some brothers were meant to keep the peace, some were meant to appreciate the finer things in life—and some were apparently meant to get banned from Napa Valley wineries.
